Hypoglycaemia

Blood glucose below 70 mg/dL.

Definition

Hypoglycaemia is low blood sugar. Symptoms include shakiness, sweating, hunger, irritability, and — if severe — confusion or loss of consciousness. Most episodes are in diabetics on insulin or sulfonylureas. Treatment: 15g fast-acting carbs, repeat in 15 min if still low.
