Tachycardia

A heart rate over 100 beats per minute at rest.

Definition

Tachycardia is a resting heart rate above 100 bpm. Common non-pathological causes include exercise, caffeine, fever, and anxiety. Persistent unexplained tachycardia warrants an ECG and work-up for anaemia, thyroid, or arrhythmia.
